    Hi there
In our Multisite network we want to give Administrators the ability to Edit Users ie to add First and Last Names, like Super Admins can do, can we do this in the plugin?
We have already checked ‘Edit Users’ for Administrators, but this hasn’t worked.
    Thanks
    Emma

    Hi Emma,

Would you be open to using version 3?

    Hi Syam

Yes we would, however we can’t currently see a Version 3, we are on Version 2.14.3 and can see that Version 2.14.4 is available.

    Is Version 3 in development?

    Thanks
    Emma

    Hi Emma,

Its currently marked as beta. Its actually production ready. I’m waiting to add a few more features and documentation before releasing it.

There are major changes, especially the way extended permissions work. So please take a backup before upgrading.

You can find the plugin from your purchase history.

Once installed, enable ‘manage_network_users’ capability for the role from the edit screen.

    Thanks

    Syam

    Hi Syam,

    Hope you’re well.

    Just picking this back up.

That does work but is it correct to give an Administrator who only requires the ability to edit users within their own site and not across the entire network, that permission?

    Kind regards

    Emma

    Hi Emma,

Whatever capabilities you are attaching to a role is only for that site. Meaning every site has their own Administrator role, they are not the same role.

    Thanks

    Hi Syam,

I agree with that and that makes sense.

However there is already a checkbox called ‘edit_users’ under the section titled Users which is checked.

Why therefore are we handing out a Network privilege to an administrator?

Surely that grants a privilege across all sites on the network?

    Kind regards

    Emma

    Hi Emma,

This how WordPress core works. When a site is multisite, user should have both these capabilities.

If you were to assign it directly to that user, it would be across all sites. Since you are assigning it to a site role, it will affect only that site. Because site roles are not shared between sites.

    Thanks

    Syam
