Hi,
I have upgraded to WPFront User Role Editor Pro, but still can’t get my redirect links to work. I have set the URL’s to the appropriate links and all the roles are where they are supposed to be, yet they still aren’t working. Any ideas of what I could be doing wrong?

How are you logging in to your site? Can you try the default WordPress login method (wp-login.php) if you are not already and see if it works.

Hey Syam,
I have tried it that way, and it works for me (because I am an Admin) but not for my regular users. I have even taken the redirects out and tried as a normal user and it does the same exact thing as it would if they were in there.

I don’t think I quite understand you reply.
How does your redirect work for the “Administrator” role? Since User Role Editor Pro doesn’t allow to set a redirect for “Administrator” role? When you say the “same exact thing”, what is that “exact thing”? Does it always redirect to a specific page?
One of your plugins/theme may be overriding the login redirect settings. It works using a filter. So the last code executed will control the redirect. Can you test with disabling all other plugins and changing the theme?

Hello Again,
I am so sorry that I was confusing. Here’s a more in depth view of what’s happening. I have a site for a Child Care company. We have 5 center page and 1 Employee that require a login to access. We had the redirect set to a “choose your center page” where users would end up after logging in. It was working fine and then all of a sudden stopped. We updated the Peter’s Login Redirect plugin that we were using and then it really stopped working. Instead of taking it to the Choose Your Center page, it took you back to the home page. When searching to find the issue, we found that if we upgraded to pro within the WP Roles, the the roles and redirects would be in the same location. So, we upgradaed. Well, when putting in the redirects and making sure the roles we correct, the redirects still didn’t work. We flushed the cache, tried using both relative and absolute URLs and turned off all other redirect plugins. Then, we deleted all of the redirects to see what would happen if their weren’t any in there, and it still directed back to the home page. So I can’t figure out where I am going wrong.
I am a little scared to change our theme because our site itself is working perfectly, it’s just the redirects that aren’t.

Hi Samantha,
That is fine.
FTP allows me to access the files, so that I can replace them. I’ll be only replacing my plugin files for debugging purposes. I’ll not break your site.

How/Where do you host your site? Usually you will be able to create FTP accounts from your hosting provider’s control panel.
I took a look into your site, here are my findings.
Login redirect is working. If you use the default WordPress login method you can see that it is working. (I asked you test this in my previous reply, may be you didn’t understand). To test the default login method, append /wp-admin to your domain and browse. It will redirect you to the default WordPress login page.
So the login form available on your website front end is not using the login redirect settings. How are you creating that form?
I have changed the password of the “test” user to the same password you set for my account for testing.
You can hold the FTP account creation, I probably won’t need it since login redirect is working. This seems to be a plugin/widget/theme issue.

Hi Samantha,
The WordPress login page is not just for Admin users. Any user with an account will be able to login through it. There are lots of sites out there which uses the default login page for their site’s login with a new theme.
With that said I’m not asking you to change your site’s login page to default page. That was for testing and debugging purpose only. Just like I asked you to deactivate other plugins and change your theme. I’m not asking you to permanently deactivate all your plugins. All these actions are to find from where the issue is coming from. We can only safely fix an issue, if we know from where it’s coming from.
Since the redirect works on the default login, now we know the login redirect configuration works. So we can eliminate that variable. The issue seems to be your font-end login form discarding the redirect configurations. You mentioned that it’s hard coded there. Can you send me the code?
