    I have started having a problem when users log in. Although they use the correct login details for their role, they get an error screen stating “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” This is not the normal 404 error page.

    However, if from this error page the user then resubmits the domain name, the correct page comes up with no error and they are logged in.

    I only seem to get this error with CHROME. Firefox and IE work fine.

    This problem started happening on the 2nd April for us. If I login as the administrator, I have no problems, it is only any other role.

    I am assuming it is something to do with the Role Editor Pro, but am open to suggestions. I have made no other changes to the website.

    I am using Catch Box Pro theme.

    Have you changed anything, like updating the plugin or changing a setting?

    No changes – In fact I was away for 2 weeks and did not access the site at all, but on my return fond this happening.
    After noticing it, I updated the Catch Box Pro theme to see if it would help, but this made no difference.

    Have you tried with clearing the cookies and temp files in chrome? Since it happens only in chrome, I don’t think this has anything to do with user role editor. Can you send me a screenshot of the page?

    I have done all you suggested – seems to be intermittent fault. I had hoped you would have an idea what could be the problem. Will send screenshot by email.

    How did you workaround this? Your solution will be helpful to others if they even get the same issue.

    Also I like to fix this if this is coming from User Role Editor.

    Actually I do not know where it is coming from. It is intermittant and I have also now had it with Firefox as well as Chrome.

    All we do is re-enter the address and it comes right. Although we get the unauthorised access warning on logging in, it seem we are logged in anyway, so just re-entering the address without doing anything regarding the login seems to work. Strange.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for the response. I’ll review my code once again to make sure there is nothing blocking it.

    You could try using the Login Redirect, basically your URL will be /wp-admin/.

    Actually the direct login is no problem. It’s when my affiliates try to login from the frontend without the /wp-admin/ that the problem occurs.
