    Hi,
After upgrading to the 3.x versions I am having some issues being able to edit certain post types in the backed (or view them in the front end). This is while being logged in as the administrator.

Any page or similar that has a user role access rule on it cannot be accessed > https://prnt.sc/1xgrlfo. If I disable the pro version of the plugin I can access the page normally but as soon as it is enabled I cannot access it again. I did have an issue with a CPT, I went it and set the Map Meta Cap to True and it was fixed. I tried to do the same for my pages but it doesn’t fix it.

I also tried restoring the administrator role and Converting Extended Permissions to User Post Permissions Data.

If I check pages in Disable Extended Permissions (post types) I can access the page but the user filters aren’t running.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Thanks
    Nik

    Hi Nik,

Thank you for doing a detailed analysis.

Version 3.1.0 has been released and there are some bug fixes in it. Please upgrade and see if it fixes your issue.

If it doesn’t fix, please use the “Debug” feature to confirm the functionality that is affecting you.

If it is Extended Permissions as you suspect, there is a compatibility issue reported between v2 and v3. In version 3, deny has higher precedence. Means if any role is denied, then the post will be denied to the user. In version 2 allow had higher precedence.

I will be adding a setting in the next version to take care of this issue.

Please let me know if you need any help.

How do I use the “Debug” feature in WPFront User Role Editor?

    Thanks,
    Syam

    Hi Syam,
    Thanks for your quick response!
I have upgraded but the issue was still there.
When doing debugging there are no errors but I can access the page when I check “Disable Extended Permissions”.

Is the fix coming in the next day or two?
If not is there something I can do to get things working until the update as this breaks a significant part of the site.

    Thanks again
    Nik

Is there a way to go back to Ver 2 as Ver 3 is giving me too many issues. Thanks Paul

To fix this issue, please upgrade to at least version 3.2.0-RC1, then change “Extended Permissions Precedence Type” to “Allow” under “Roles > Settings”.

    Thanks,
    Syam
