We’re trying to use a custom role on a multisite.
Role = Author
Desired capability = cannot edit or moderate comments
Plugin setting = edit comments and moderate comments are both unchecked
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We find authors can still edit and moderate comments on their own posts.

Editing a comment uses the same capability check used for editing the same post/page. If the user has permission to edit that page, then they get permission edit its comments. At this point there isn’t a way to turn off just the comment editing functionality.
