    Hello

We can’t seem to get the admin menu working when a user has more than one role. If a user is assigned to author they get the menu on the left side which shows

    posts
    –> all posts
    –> add new
    –> categories
    –> tags

we also have custom content called beach administered by beach admin, when a user is a beach admin only they see

    beach
    –> beach
    –> add new

some of our users need to be both author and beach admin, when they are assigned both roles neither the posts or beach menu items show up on the left anymore

I can’t figure out why this is happening, any ideas on how to fix it?

    thanks

    Hello,

Do you have ‘Admin Menu Editor’ functionality enabled for any of the roles?
Also if you deactivate this plugin does it fix the issue?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Sorry, when you said “if so we are not using it”, I thought you are referring to ‘Admin Menu Editor’ functionality not the plugin.

Now that I understand that you are not using(deactivated) the plugin, it cannot alter/change your menu configuration. Menus work in WordPress based on the capabilities the logged in user has. You just need to make sure that, the logged in user has all the capabilities the menu is looking for. It doesn’t matter whether it comes from a single role or multiple roles.

For example ‘Posts’ uses ‘edit_posts’ capability.

    Thanks

    Syam
