Mitch CantonParticipant
Well, normally I’d say sure… but I have 118 (!!) active plugins on this sandbox site. That might take way too long to do it that way. I’ll see if I can do it in blocks of 10 or so to try and target the problem and let you know.
Mitch CantonParticipantI wanted to update this after working on it this afternoon. I deactivated ALL plugins, and activated WPF *first* and it activated fine, no error.
I then re-activated ALL of the remaining plugins (via bulk) and then it threw the fatal error again, locked up the site and I had to remove WPF via ftp.
I then deactivated all plugins, activated WPF first, and then activated ALL of the other plugins *one at a time* and they all reactivated, with no fatal error with WPF still active.
That is really strange. It must have been something to do with the order they were activated in maybe? If you have any ideas, I’d like to hear them.
Unless it happens again, or unless you can replicate, I guess this isn’t really an issue.
Mitch CantonParticipantHi Syam,
I understand, it was just a thought. I will see how things work in the existing setup and then decide if this is something I need to talk more about.
Thanks.
Mitch CantonParticipantSorry, let me try to better explain.
When a user registers on our website, the have to fill in a Required field, where the answer is selected from a drop down box. Within the dropdown are about 25-30 choices, they must choose one. It is a required field, no selection, no register.
We populate that dropdown box with the names of the BP Groups that they can join. They are limited to ONE selection. When they choose it via the dropdown box, they are Auto Assigned to that BP Group.
*** We would have already created all of the 25-30 Roles in WPFront that have the same name as the BP Group they selected in the dropdown. ***
My question was whether there was a way to ALSO (automatically) add the SAME name that they chose in the dropdown as an extended Role for that new user.
I’m sorry if I explained it poorly. I hope this makes better sense.
Thank you.
Mitch CantonParticipantHey Syam,
Thanks for the timely reply. In some uses I think the shortcodes idea is a good one, and I saw that option here and in the docs. But my usage in this case is creating restrictions, based on extended roles, on bbpress forums (where the entire page is locked down and there is not really any content on it to wrap in the shortcode).
In multiple bbpress forums, I use Enabled role permissions to allow for specific sets of members to access specific forums. From what I can see, it would be significantly more difficult (if even possible) to do so with the shortcodes.
I guess I can create a custom 404 page which includes some widgets and manual redirect links and a registration form to go with the search and other items already there. I can make it work somehow, I just thought the custom redirect would be a nice solution (but I have an admittedly limited understanding of the specifics of the plugin workings).
Thanks for your feedback.
