I have over a dozen private groups that are only supposed to be able to view their own documents.
The pages are private in an effort to restrict unauthorized groups from accessing that private page.
When a new role is created, the new role is automatically being added to the list of roles allowed to access *all* other private pages. There are dozens of private pages involved, so revisiting every single private page on the website is a great deal of work.
Is there a way to create a role that will *not* be automatically added to all current private pages?
Hi Phil,
You just need to remove the ‘read_private_pages’ capability from the new roles for them to not view those pages.
Thanks

Hi Michael,
I don’t think you are having the same issue. Private pages is a feature in WordPress and ‘read_private_pages’ is a built-in capability.
For your issue, you just need to ‘Bulk Edit’ the extended permissions once you add a new role. This can be done is a few seconds. But the new roles will still have permissions enabled by default when you add them, this behavior can’t be changed.
Starting from v3.0 this behavior will be changed. You can set the permissions which will be inherited for new roles. There is a beta version available if you want to test it.
Thanks
