There seems to be some kind of bug. Would you mind telling me how can I create that ‘Products’ menu so that I can test and debug it in my local dev environment. Does that menu come through a plugin or theme?

Hi Anton,

1. At this point you can’t edit menus for ‘Administrator’ role. This is done on purpose, if a user screws up their configuration, they will will have at least one role to restore everything back. I’ll add a to do list item to find a better alternative.

2. Override Type Soft allows you to access the page using its URL when its hidden. Hard doesn’t allow you to do that. Do you have those menus hidden for that role?

3. Not at this moment. That functionality uses the standard WordPress message when you don’t have access to a back end page.

Hi Richard,

This is not a fatal error. This error simply says, it was unable to contact the server to check whether the plugin has an updated version. This could be because the server was down or was under maintenance when your site checked for updates.

If the issue persists after 24 hours, please contact the author of the plugin giving you this issue. From the code you posted, it looks like the plugin is ‘symple-shortcodes’ and the URL it is trying to contact is ‘http://wp-updates.com/api/2/plugin’.

Hi Mike,

If all capabilities are enabled, can you do a “Restore default” within the menu editor for Shop Manager. That option is available in the “Copy from” drop down.
